Unsung Hero: Madison Dunn, the Heart Behind The Cooper’s Hospitality
Some of the most memorable hospitality moments happen before a guest even checks in. A favorite flower waiting in a room, a personal detail remembered, or an unexpected surprise that makes someone feel truly seen. Behind many of these thoughtful gestures at The Cooper is Madison Dunn, the hotel's Guest Recognition Specialist.
Madison joined the hotel ahead of its March 2026 opening, bringing a love of hospitality that began during an event-planning internship while studying at the University of Alabama. Drawn to Charleston's rich hospitality traditions, she found a place where her creativity and natural instinct for making people feel special could flourish.
Working closely with the hotel's Experience, Reservations, Personal Concierge, and Front of House teams, Madison learns what matters most to each guest. Sometimes, it's something wonderfully simple, like hand-painting strawberries, a young guest's favorite, on a window at just the right height for her to enjoy. Other times, it's a quieter gesture, such as arranging flowers and a heartfelt card for a couple celebrating their anniversary during a difficult time in their lives.
For Madison, every stay is a blank canvas, an opportunity to create something personal and unexpected. And while she gracefully navigates last-minute requests and countless moving parts, she is quick to credit the team around her. The magic, she believes, comes from people working together with genuine care.
At The Cooper, it's these small, meaningful moments that linger long after check-out. And it's people like Madison, warm, intuitive, and endlessly thoughtful, who remind us that true hospitality is about how someone makes you feel.
