White Elephant Heads West

To us, the White Elephant name evokes timeless charm and coastal sophistication – from its storied Nantucket origins to its stylish Palm Beach retreat. Now, the beloved brand is venturing westward, bringing its signature blend of whimsical elegance and warm hospitality to the Colorado Rockies. Opening in late fall 2025, White Elephant Aspen marks the group’s first foray into the mountain West.

Perfectly positioned at the corner of Main and Garmisch in Aspen’s historic West End, the new property places guests within strolling distance of downtown’s cultural cornerstones – including the Aspen Institute, Harris Hall, and the Benedict Music Tent – while offering front-row access to the region’s breathtaking alpine splendor.

An Elevated Take on Mountain Design

White Elephant Resorts is reinventing Aspen’s Victorian vernacular through a fresh, contemporary lens: think rich textures – leather, stone, and warm woods – set against a palette of rust, cream, and charcoal. Beloved signature White Elephant touches, from brass elephant trunks to playful door knockers, lend continuity, and character.

While interiors feel quietly luxurious, with Roman clay walls, custom furnishings, and unexpected details like hand-painted lampshades and embossed leather headboards, we’re excited about many accommodations having private patios or balconies to enjoy the fresh mountain air. The crown jewel? A three-bedroom Penthouse Suite with panoramic views, a full kitchen, and a wraparound terrace designed for high-altitude entertaining.

Art as Experience

Curated by longtime advisor Emily Santangelo, the hotel’s collection features more than 125 original works from talents like Alex Katz, Robert Peterson, and Doodle Boy, alongside a bold new commission from Orit Fuchs – a familiar favorite for our White Elephant Palm Beach regulars.

Further enriching the creative spirit, the hotel has partnered with the iconic Anderson Ranch Arts Center, offering guests exclusive access to artist-led workshops, children’s programs, and community events that celebrate Aspen’s deep artistic roots.

A Taste of the 41st Parallel

Making its mountain debut, LoLa 41 brings its globally inspired menu – a favorite in Nantucket and Palm Beach – to the heart of Aspen. Influenced by the flavors of the 41st parallel, the bistro’s sushi, seafood, and international small plates promise an indulgent après-ski or summer evening affair.

The White Elephant Way – in Aspen

Whether you're skiing world-class slopes, exploring trails on two wheels, or soaking in the summer arts scene, we trust Aspen to deliver year-round enchantment. In addition, guests of White Elephant Aspen will enjoy thoughtful perks – from heated outdoor pool to complimentary BMWs, courtesy bikes, and a ski shuttle. End each day fireside or in the hot tub, with the Rockies as your backdrop: who’s in?
